US Springfield Krag M1899 carbine. Serial number 227306. Made in 1899, previous owner indicated in the month of November. Stock cartouche dated 1901. M1902 type sight features with M1898 sighting piece and knobs. Bolt has headless cocking piece, a scarce feature that was only produced for a little over a year. Metal parts have a medium gray patina overall with a plumb blue patina on the barrel. Stocks are good, showing average wear and use with minor handling marks, a tiny chip from forearm edge on left side, and holes in belly of butt and underside of forearm from having sling swivels installed. Ships to FFL or C&R license holder. Appears to be mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
