antique US Springfield Krag pre-M1896 carbine. Only dated "1896" on receiver, no "MODEL" marking. Serial number 34896. Made in 1896, previous owner indicated in the month of June. 22" barrel. No cartouche visible on left side of stock, "P" firing proof is present behind triggerguard. Metal parts are mostly a plum patina with a little rust on the triggerguard and buttplate. Stock shows honest wear and use with a light added finish, and a couple handling marks in the wrist, and a small circle scribed on the right side of the butt. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
