C1750 percussion conversion fowler for restoration. 40-1/4" barrel of about .59 caliber bore. Barrel proofed at breech with maker initials RW for Richard Wilson, who was accepted as a master gunmaker in 1730. Wonderful early "two stage" barrel with octagon breech portion separated from round by a "wedding band", then stepped down again with a smaller band. Early "X" shaped silver overlay on front sight. Missing part of forearm, ramrod, sideplate, and lock. Untouched appearance overall with dark patina on metal parts, small piece of buttplate tang is missing. Stock has some abrasions and light cracks, including a heavier crack in the wrist, secured with an old screw. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
