C1830-40 militia musket with Springfield M1816 lock dated 1825. 38-3/4" round barrel of about .69 caliber bore. No other markings are present. Lock and barrel have a mottled patina overall with some light pitting in the lock and barrel breech area. Muzzle walls are thinned from use with a small dent. Brass mountings have a light patina. Stock is good, nicely crafted with a smaller than usual butt, shows moderate wear and use, with cracks above and below lock, by rear lock screw, and several cracks in the forearm edge, one of which shows some old wood filler. Mechanically good, though action feels worn, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
