early Springfield M1795 flintlock musket. Early lock marking with "SPRINGFIELD" in an arch at rear of lock and dated 1806 on buttplate. Metal parts have a medium patina overall with attractive surfaces and some scattered pitting primarily in the flash hole area. Period restock with an early-style "Roman nose" buttstock drop. Has a small sliver from left forearm edge, a couple diagonal grain cracks on each side of the forearm, a little nicking to the ramrod channel edges, some minor chips to lock mortise, and a little chip at rear of barrel tang. Wood is dark overall with a smooth appearance. Lock is functional except does not have half cock. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
