Springfield M1863 Type I percussion rifled musket. Well-marked lock dated 1863, eagle on bolster and barrel proofs are worn, stock cartouches are worn but recognizable, with the ESA being more readable. Metal parts have an untouched "attic" patina, aside from the lock markings being lightly cleaned, and some light pitting from use present in the barrel breech area. Lower sling swivel is absent. Stock is equally untouched, having an old worn piece missing to left of barrel tang, expected handling marks overall, and some minor chipping to ramrod channel. Has letter "M" or "W" carved in front of triggerguard long ago. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
