US M1841 "Mississippi" rifle by Robbins, Kendall, & Lawrence, as marked on lock. Markings are very fine, worn, and faint with date unreadable. 33" barrel with original .54 caliber rifled bore. Brass parts have a light coloration, apparently cleaned at some point, iron parts with a dark coloration overall, with some pitting in the barrel breech and lock plate area. We believe the stock is restored from the lower band forward, due to differences in coloration and wear. It is not possible to look for a seam inside the barrel channel, as the stock has been glass bedded for shooting accuracy. Rear of stock is worn with scattered handling marks, small crack by front lock screw, a little erosion behind the hammer from powder burn, and two fine, worn inspector cartouches. Forestock is less worn with few minor marks. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
