US M1841 "Mississippi" rifle by Whitney, 1855, as marked on lock. 33" barrel of about .58 caliber smooth bore. Brass parts have a light patina, iron parts with a dark coloration and scattered overall moderate pitting. Nice handmade period replacement ramrod with brass tip. Stock is worn overall with numerous light to moderate handling marks, some minor chipping around the buttplate and some worn slivering to the ramrod channel. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
