Winchester Model 1894 lever action rifle. Serial number 254822, made in 1902. 26" octagon barrel, full magazine, 38-55 caliber. Bore is clean but dark, showing some erosion but uninterrupted rifling, with a few scattered worn pits. Barrel has a plumb blue patina, other parts are a medium gray coloration. Knurled pattern hammer, steel crescent butt plate and forearm nose cap. Tang mounted Lyman peep sight covers two additional holes in the tang for a previous sight, going through the first and last letters of "WINCHESTER". Bottom lever plate has a faintly engraved 9 digit number, possibly an old Social Security number. Stock shows light handling overall with a light added finish and a old small 1 1/4" crack at toe. Comes with Cody museum search form. Ships to FFL dealer or C&R license holder where eligible. Appears to be mechanically functional. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot. Before considering using this arm, we recommend inspection by a professional gunsmith.
