C1860 percussion halfstock percussion fowler by James and Granville Henry of Boulton, Pennsylvania - $450.00

Please click the image for a larger version
C1860 percussion halfstock percussion fowler, marked on lock and barrel "J.HENRY & SON". Markings are light on lock and very weak on barrel. 34-7/8" part octagon, part round barrel with "wedding band" separator, about 0.68" bore. James and Granville Henry were the third and fourth generation gunmakers of the Henry family of Boulton, Pennsylvania. They were known for selling their simply made product to western traders and people migrating west. Typical Henry build with iron buttplate and triggerguard, german silver forearm tip and barrel key escutcheons. Metal parts have a medium to dark patina overall with some scattered pitting. There is an interesting steel "bandage" applied to the barrel just in front of the bolster. Plain walnut stock, shows scattered minor handling marks overall, free of cracks and chips. Nice handmade wooden ramrod. Hammer holds at half cock but not full cock, probably should not be fired due to the repaired barrel. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
